What is an IP check?
Companies do not always have policies in place when it comes to intellectual property (IP). They develop copyrights, register trademarks or acquire domain names; however, there is a lack of overview. For instance, who or what entity precisely owns which rights? Have ownership arrangements been laid down in agreements with employees or contractors? Are there holes in the IP portfolio? Are there any infringement risks (infringement on someone else’s rights as well as on one’s own)? Have all licenses been well taken care of?
