Lodewijk Pessers studied law at the University of Amsterdam and New York University. While doing his master’s in Information Law (2011, cum laude) he worked as a research associate at the Institute for Information Law (IViR, University of Amsterdam).

In 2011, he moved to Beijing, where he wrote a PhD dissertation on the inventiveness requirement in patent law. The dissertation was later published by Wolter Kluwer (The inventiveness requirement in patent law). Lodewijk also worked as a lawyer (advocaat) for De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, where he was part of the intellectual-property law team. Over the past few years, he has lived and worked in Amsterdam, Washington D.C. and San Francisco.
